As the country woke up from the Candy Land dream that was the rise of Obama, we wiped the drool from our cheeks and took notice of the disaster that happened in our sleep. Many of us have not noticed how bad things had gotten because politics is like an infestation of rodents. Every now and then we see an adorable little mouse and are so drunk on cuteness that we throw it a piece of cheese and keep it in a little cage as a pet. We can’t see that our cute little Mickey has nested in our walls, chewed up our electrical wires, and shit all over our food.
Politics is disgusting and we usually want nothing more than to ignore it, but if we do we will find that it has diseased our family and homes. By that time, it is too late.
It seems like no matter what happens in the world of politics, it will never change. Whether Republican or Democrat, deep down inside they are all just these despicable rodents who are constantly chewing through the walls. Every one of them is certain that they know how to live your life better than you do. They make laws saying you can’t gamble because surely you are just one of the millions of stumbling morons who would not be able to resist temptation. They understand that if you are allowed to throw money down on the football game or drive to a nearby casino, you will soon have your wife hooking in the streets so you can have enough money for your addiction. God forbid if we were able to legally smoke pot. Soon we would be going on drive byes and, once again, selling our wives in the streets to support our pot habits.
Don’t get me wrong, we really are the greatest country in the world. But it is equivalent to being the straightest character on the TV show Glee. We live in the perpetual nanny state that is enforced by both political parties while each of them do whatever the hell they want. Republicans preach about how gay marriage will ruin the foundation of our society while they take evening trips to the men’s room at all the local rest stops that have the best glory holes. Queen Obama then starts legislation to force restaurants to serve smaller portions and healthier meals while they throw white house Super bowl parties serving only the finest lard with potato chips on the side.
There is no doubt that our ruling class has taken away our freedom and they know that we will shut our mouths as long as we can watch J-Lo on American Idol every week. I also know that if I was starting a blog on, say, the juicy life of Lindsay Lohan, I would draw in so many readers that I would be beating readers back with a stick. But Lindsay Lohan isn’t screwing me the way Obamacare has over the past year since I’ve been out of work with a back injury. (Even though I might have dreamt about her screwing me in a different way. There is something about a drunken jewel thief that just does it for me.)
So this week I will start with Obamacare. As I watched Barack’s interview with Bill O’Reilly before the Super Bowl, Obama was adamant that most of the country still supported his beautifully socialist bill. Most likely, if you were able to poll most Americans, you would find an overwhelming amount of people who say they do support it if it was explained the way Obama promoted it. Who doesn’t want all Americans to have health insurance? The problem is every time the government gets involved with any aspect of society, they make things much, much worse.
I understand that a lot of people despise the large corporations because they often treat their employees like trash and people are jealous of their extreme wealth. But let’s put aside all of our jealousy and hard feelings toward these companies and look at what they do well. The biggest things they are great at is employing a large amount of people and making a boatload of cash.
Now, let’s take a company like McDonalds. Just like many other companies, they provide health care for their employees. In fact, most Americans get their health care from their employers. The employers don’t have to offer up health insurance. It’s just something they do to make it more alluring to work there. So why did companies like McDonalds announce they are going to drop their healthcare benefits once Obamacare was passed? Another question is, why did the government let McDonalds out of Obamacare entirely with a waiver?
If Obamacare is so wonderful, why have 729 companies sought waivers to get out of it? Why has this great bill raised the cost of most premiums by thousands of dollars? Also, digging deeper in the nature of the beast, why is Obamacare charging a small fee to companies who don’t offer healthcare to employees?
You would think that last issue would be a good thing. Make companies that don’t offer insurance pay for their evil ways. The fact is, the health care costs have skyrocketed so much that most companies will choose to drop the health care coverage and pay the small penalty and they will save an enormous amount of money if they do. You see, the writers of Obamacare knew that the more people they could goat into dropping their employees from coverage, the more people would need to turn to affordable places, like the government, for healthcare. The plan all along was to make premiums so unaffordable that everyone would have to buy in to a government public plan. Then, the government would have total control over a majority of American’s lives. After that they can legislate how you eat, drink, and exercise because your unhealthy lifestyle would then be harming the public.
If you don’t believe me, just take a look at the main points of the law. In my case, I went on disability for my back and Obamacare allowed my health insurance company to charge me 150% of my premium. Now, why would the government, who is so concerned about everyone having coverage, make it nearly impossible for someone who is on short term disability to afford coverage? You would think they would make it mandatory for my insurance company to charge me either the same, or less so I could keep my coverage. Right? The facts keep adding up for the real agenda of Obamacare. Just like most bills, it is all about power. The government gets high on controlling us.
There is no doubt that we need a change in how health insurance works. We need a reform and Obamacare is not it. The thing is, most of the changes Obamacare makes don’t kick in for another few years. They took the few aspects of the bill that would appeal to the people and passed it earlier. (Like being able to keep coverage on your parent’s bill until age 26 and not being able to be dropped for preexisting conditions.) Unfortunately, even the preexisting conditions clause is flawed because there is no cap on what companies can charge you. They can make it impossible to afford your coverage is you have a preexisting condition. Believe me, I know more than anyone how screwed up healthcare is and has been, but the answer is not the government. What needs to happen is for the government to lighten the restrictions on healthcare and have a government funded option for those who are truly in need. Sadly, like I said, the government gets high on power, and asking them to give any of their power up is like taking a needle from a junkie. Until our country has a pure revolution, we are all screwed. And not in the way I dream about with Lindsay Lohan.
